Grand Orient of Slovenia – History

In 1990, Brother Aristid Havliček (Tili), the first Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Orient of Slovenia, received a contact that led him to Karlsruhe, Germany. There, our Masonic journey began 30 years ago, initially within the obedience of Le Droit Humain, and later within the obedience of the Grand Lodge for Men and Women of Germany. Brothers and sisters from these obediences offered great support. Within four years, seven brothers and one sister had reached the degree of Master, enabling the establishment of a new lodge.

On April 24, 1994 (Masonic calendar), under the full moon in Vesak, and during the granting of the light by the Grand Lodge for Men and Women of Germany in Heidelberg, Germany, the Saint Germain Lodge (Orient Tabor) was founded. This lodge is the mother lodge of the Grand Orient of Slovenia. Its first Worshipful Master was Brother Aristid Havliček (Tili).

After 2005, Worshipful Master Tili began to establish international connections. Through visits to Vienna, brothers and sisters met and formed bonds. Saint Germain Lodge joined the obedience of Hermetica, Orient Vienna, where they worked and held several initiations.

As membership grew, new lodges were established: Ex Oriente Lux Lodge and Sanctum Sanctorum Lodge. Ex Oriente Lux Lodge was founded on June 5, 2010, in the Celje Orient, and Sanctum Sanctorum Lodge on April 4, 2012, also in the Celje Orient.

With the support of these three lodges, the Grand Orient of Slovenia was founded. The founding lodges of the GOS are Saint Germain Lodge, Ex Oriente Lux Lodge, and Sanctum Sanctorum Lodge. Thus, on May 5, 2012, in Celje, with the assistance and light brought from the Grand Orient of Austria, the Grand Orient of Slovenia was officially established. Many obediences from across Europe attended this event.

Later, Hermes Lodge was founded on July 6, 2013, in the Zagreb Orient, and the male-only Triglav Lodge on April 8, 2017, in the Ljubljana Orient.
